If you keep your fridge stocked with fresh produce, you probably don’t need the best greens powder, but if these perishables are a little harder to come by, then green juice can help you supplement your fruit and veggie intake on off days or when you’re running low on fresh options.

KOS Show Me The Greens is 100% organic and contains whole-food ingredients like organic wheatgrass juice powder, organic apple, and organic broccoli. KOS claims this greens powder can deliver micronutrients, raise energy, boost immunity, aid digestive health, flush toxins, and combat stress. Sounds great, but does it really do all that and taste amazing?

We tried it for ourselves and are sharing our experience in our KOS Show Me The Greens review.

A Quick Look at KOS Show Me The Greens

KOS—pronounced k-aw-ss—is named after the Greek island where Hippocrates, considered the father of modern medicine, was born. KOS is on a mission to feed the world more plant-based ingredients to support better health. Their products include plant-based protein powder, mushroom coffee, and a variety of superfood powders, including greens and reds powders, beetroot powder, acai berry powder, and coconut milk powder.

Show Me The Greens contains powdered spirulina, chlorella, wheatgrass, oat grass, and several green veggies and organic fruits. They also sell straight spirulina and wheatgrass powders, unflavored, single-ingredient products.

We always approve of brands who give back, and KOS helps fight hunger through Project 10 Million Meals and its partnership with Feeding America. For each KOS product purchased, KOS delivers a meal to a family near you through a local food bank. To date, the program has delivered over 5 million meals.

Experience Using KOS Show Me The Greens

GGR performance editor, Anthony O’Reilly, CPT, CNC, stepped up to the plate and tried KOS Show Me The Greens. Greens powders are notoriously grassy and somewhat gritty when mixed. While this one isn’t perfect, Anthony found it mixes easily with water and the flavor makes it easy to get down.

Price Per Serving

Each container of this greens powder from KOS sells for $39.99 and contains 28 servings, which is $1.43 per serving. If you get this on a subscription from KOS, you’ll save 20%, bringing the price per serving to $1.14.

It’s slightly annoying that the servings per container are just shy of a full month’s supply, but overall, the price is decent for 100% organic ingredients. It falls on the lower end of the price range for greens powders, which can range from $1 to $3 per serving.

To earn a 5-star rating for price, a product’s price per serving needs to be under $1.15, so we gave this product a 4 out of 5.

Formulation

Show Me The Greens formula contains several greens, including organic spirulina, organic chlorella, organic wheatgrass, and organic oat grass. Chlorella and spirulina1 are algae rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients linked to reduced inflammation, improved exercise endurance, and better cardiovascular health.

It also contains the following fruits and veggies: organic lemon juice, cabbage, kale, broccoli, apple, and green bell pepper, plus a digestive prebiotic blend to support gut health. Prebiotics are plant-based fibers that act as food for the microorganisms (aka probiotics) living in your intestines. Health benefits of prebiotics2 include improved digestive health, immune system function, cognitive function, and heart health.

The ingredients are listed as four proprietary blends, so you don’t know the exact amount of each. The supplement facts label lists potassium, iron, and calcium but doesn’t provide quantities of any other micronutrients, so you can’t be sure exactly how much this product is contributing to your vitamin and mineral intake.

For those reasons, we gave it a 4 out of 5 for formulation.

Taste and Solubility

Anthony rates Show Me the Greens 4 out 5 for both taste and solubility. Like other customers, he found this greens powder tastes better and less grassy than other greens products. “It tastes like green apple with an aftertaste of earth,” he says. “It’s definitely drinkable, and we can finish it.”

The greens powder mixed pretty well with water, but the texture isn’t perfect. “It’s a little gritty—not too bad, but not great,” says Anthony. Several customer reviews on both the KOS site and Amazon note using a frother or blender makes for an extra-smooth texture, and serving over ice makes it taste even better.

Our testers had nothing to report in terms of side effects after using this greens powder. There’s nothing suspicious on the ingredient list, and we expect most customers will feel fine using this product, so we give it a 5 out of 5 for very low risk of side effects.

Third-Party Testing

This greens powder doesn’t have any third-party certifications, so we have to give it a 1 out of 5 for third-party testing. You may notice an NSF seal on the KOS website, but that simply says the product is made in an NSF-certified facility. It’s not the same as a product being tested and certified by NSF for safety and purity.

Several reviews note taking this greens powder on an empty stomach makes them feel nauseous, but that’s not a product flaw. If you experience stomach upset, try adding the greens to a meal or protein smoothie or take it after eating.

Final Verdict of Our KOS Show Me The Greens Review

KOS Show Me the Greens is a decent choice if you’re looking for a greens supplement that is certified USDA organic. The green apple flavor tastes pretty good, it’s less expensive than other greens, and KOS offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. It loses points for not being third-party tested and containing a few proprietary blends, which are pretty typical for greens powders.

  • Each tub contains 28 servings and costs $1.43 per serving
  • It’s free from artificial sweeteners
  • Doesn’t contain mushrooms or adaptogens
  • Less “grassy” tasting than similar products
  • Excellent return policy

KOS Show Me The Greens: FAQs

Does drinking greens actually work?

While drinking greens powders isn’t a replacement for a healthy diet, they can contribute vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial nutrients to your daily intake. Greens powders can help supplement a diet with less commonly eaten greens, like wheatgrass and green algae, but they lack the fiber and variety of nutrition found in whole foods.

Loyal customers say greens powder helps them feel healthier and provides a boost of energy. Ultimately, the only way to find out if a greens powder works for you is to try it.

What is the top-rated greens powder?

After trying over 40 greens powders, our testers rated Athletic Greens AG1 the best overall greens powder. We gave it 4 out of 5 stars, after considering formulation, dosages, solubility, and taste. It contains 75 vitamins, minerals, and whole-food sourced nutrients, is third-party tested, and delivers an excellent customer experience.

Does Kiala greens actually work?

Our testers found Kiala greens tastes good, but the formulation has room for improvement. It contains proprietary blends, doesn’t provide micronutrient amounts, and lacks third-party testing. It also contains sucralose, which can trigger bloating in some users.

Flex Wheeler’s Back Widow Attachment Review 2024: Worth the Cost?

Flex Wheeler's Back Widow is one of the most versatile cable machine attachments ever created. It's great as a "back blaster" for lat pulldowns and rows, but works just as well for curls and tricep work. In addition to that, it doubles as a deadlift jack and also works as a landmine. Honestly, unless you're conscious of all it does, you'll forget just how often you can use it. It is expensive and we do recommend it, but only to those that will use it's various capabilities and don't want to take up space with a ton of different attachments. Read more
