Editor’s Note: The ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill is no longer in production. We suggest viewing the ProForm City L6 as the best alternative or viewing our Best Budget Treadmills list for more options.

ProForm may be one of the most popular treadmill manufacturers in the fitness equipment business. They have a loyal customer base, and they have a variety of options when it comes to treadmills. As they update their machines, some have to be discontinued. One of those machines that recently suffered that fate was the ProForm 6.0 RT.

While this treadmill may no longer be in production, it can still certainly help someone who manages to get their hands on one for their home gym. So, we’ve done the research, put in the footwork (literally), and can share everything in our ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill review about how the treadmill works: the good, bad, and everything in between when it comes to this cardio machine.

We Know ProForm Treadmills

Our team at Garage Gym Reviews have used a lot of treadmills, including half a dozen ProForm treadmills like the ProForm Carbon T7, so we know how well they work. Because of that, we can also tell you what to expect and if a ProForm would be a good choice to have in your home gym. We know the value of a hard-earned dollar, and we want you to invest yours in the best machines possible.

A Quick Look at the ProForm 6.0 RT

The ProForm 6.0 RT is considered an entry-level machine. In other words, treadmill beginners are the target market for this machine. It was priced around $600 when it was in production. It has a bright LCD display that is easy to read and operate, but isn’t as large as machines like their ProForm Pro machines.

The treadmill is iPod- and MP3-compatible, so you could listen to music if you still have one of those. There are preset workouts that you can use immediately, or you can adjust the speed and incline at your own pace. The walking surface features a non-slip belt and a cushioning treadmill deck to help minimize the toll on the joints and tendons should you start to run on the treadmill.

Where Can I Find the ProForm 6.0 RT?

Unfortunately, since the ProForm 6.0 RT has been discontinued, ProForm doesn’t offer it for sale anymore. It’s also not available on Amazon or Walmart, even though those sites still list it (it’s just out of stock). You may be able to find one on sale at a local sporting goods store, but your best bet may be to find it online through market pages.

Key Features of the ProForm 6.0 RT

Most treadmills increase their inclines by 1% at a time. The ProForm 6.0 RT will change every 0.5%, which can benefit people who want to take their time and control their effort. The TreadSoft cushioning can help improve the user’s comfort while running flat or on an incline.

Active runners and people training for races might want an option with a more powerful motor, but people who will use it for personal wellness and the workout programs that are included should benefit from this machine for quite some time.

The assembly of this treadmill is simple, and shouldn’t take too much time. ProForm also has a solid reputation for their customer service, so you should feel free to reach out if you have questions that you need addressed after you start using it.

Footprint, Portability, and Durability

This folding treadmill is less than 2.5 feet wide. Therefore, storage shouldn’t be an issue if you’re limited on workout space. It does have transport wheels to help you move it, but handles on the back would be a nice addition. At less than 150 pounds, it seems this machine would be fairly easy to move.

The 2.0 continuous horsepower motor is durable enough for walking and jogging, though a motor that size shouldn’t be put under the stress of daily runs. We do like the listed weight capacity of 300 pounds.

Ergonomics

The treadmill has side handles to help maintain stability if needed, or to help assist users who need to step on or off the machine. The non-slip tread belt will also minimize missteps or slips while the belt is in motion.

Taller runners may want more running space than the reported 50 inches in length and 16 inches in width that this machine offers, but shorter runners or people who are simply trying to meet fitness goals should be able to use this machine comfortably.

Technology Benefits and Conveniences

The 6.0 RT is MP3 player-compatible, so you can be entertained while pursuing personal fitness success. There is a sound system as well in the form of one speaker on the front panel. You won’t find a fancy touchscreen on this machine. The LCD display offers basic readout stats, and is easy to read, but it doesn’t have a backlight. There are heart rate monitors on the front handles to help you measure your heart rate during exercise.

This treadmill does have QuickSpeed controls as well as a Quick Incline control, which means you can simply press a button to send the machine quickly to the setting you want. There are 16 solid cardiovascular programs included, but the quick controls can allow you to create a custom workout as well.

Final Verdict of Our ProForm 6.0 RT Review

Customer reviews of the ProForm 6.0 RT were mostly positive, with some criticism being offered as to how the treadmill was shipped. People who would be looking for a treadmill on a tight budget would be satisfied with this choice thanks to its simplicity to assemble and ease of operating thanks to the clear buttons on the console.

It could also be a good choice for someone that has limited space, but wants a reliable option for walking or running. Serious runners and people that plan on using the treadmill daily to prepare for serious events may want to look at another ProForm machine or a machine like the NordicTrack Commercial 1750
