A Quick Look at BlackWolf Pre-Workout Supplement

BlackWolf is a unique supplement company that develops products for enhanced gaming abilities and physical exercise. In fact, the company only sells two products: pre-workout and pre-game fuel. Interestingly, both products are made to deliver similar benefits for two completely different purposes. In this review, we focus on BlackWolf Pre-Workout.

BlackWolf Pre-Workout is designed to enhance energy, focus, and endurance for improved performance and more effective workouts. It contains 11 key ingredients, is free of proprietary blends, and has over 25 clinical studies to back up its effectiveness.

BlackWolf Pre-Workout comes in three flavor options, including a caffeine-free variant for individuals seeking a stim-free pre-workout option. While formulated with natural flavors and sweeteners, all flavors incorporate artificial sweeteners. Additionally, the product is vegan and vegetarian-friendly.

Is BlackWolf Worth It?

As with any pre-workout, BlackWolf Pre-Workout includes ingredients that may entice some but not everyone. At $2.27 per serving, it’s on the more expensive end of the spectrum for pre-workouts, making it less likely to be worth it to some people.

Great for:

  • Bodybuilders looking for a pre-workout that contains creatine
  • Athletes who prefer a caffeine-free pre-workout option for evening workouts
  • Weightlifters seeking a pre-workout with nitric oxide boosters for strong pumps

Not recommended for:

  • Those wanting more than three flavor options
  • Anyone looking for a pre-workout free of artificial sweeteners
  • Individuals seeking a budget-friendly pre-workout

Experience Using BlackWolf Pre-Workout

BlackWolf recommends taking one scoop of pre-workout mixed with water 15 to 20 minutes before a workout. The company website mentions moderating caffeine intake on the days when BlackWolf Pre-workout is consumed. The caffeine content of BlackWolf is 200 milligrams, and it’s not recommended to exceed 400 milligrams of caffeine daily. Consider the stim-free Fruit Punch option if you prefer to skip the caffeine altogether.

Our product testers were somewhat taken aback by their underwhelming experience with BlackWolf Pre-Workout. Given the positive reviews on BlackWolf’s official website and the product’s research-backed ingredients, they had anticipated more.

Price Per Serving

Each tub of BlackWolf Pre-Workout costs $49.99. There are 22 servings per tub, and each serving costs $2.27. This price per serving is well above market value, so we rated the cost a 1 out of 5. Unfortunately, there is no option to subscribe and save, and even if you select the option to purchase two or three tubs at once, there’s still no discount.

Formulation

BlackWolf’s formulation appears solid, earning it an astounding 5 out of 5 rating. It contains a whopping 11 promising pre-workout ingredients, some of which are included in clinically effective dosages.

Each serving contains a clinically effective dose of 6 grams of L-citrulline malate, a nitric oxide enhancer that studies1 show may improve muscle endurance and delay fatigue during high-intensity strength training.

The 3.2 grams of beta-alanine per scoop doesn’t quite meet the International Society of Sports Nutrition’s2 recommended daily dosage of 4 to 6 grams, but some research3 indicates a daily intake of 1.6 grams may elevate muscle carnosine levels. Carnosine helps buffer lactic acid accumulation in the muscles, potentially reducing muscle fatigue. Beta-alanine may also help reduce muscle soreness post-workout.

Again, the 2 grams of betaine anhydrous per serving is just shy of the 2.5 grams shown to improve exercise performance4. Betaine anhydrous may support improved body composition, muscle growth, and work capacity.

Unlike many other pre-workouts, this one includes a clinically effective dose of 3 grams of creatine monohydrate. Creatine is a well-studied ergogenic aid that has been shown to improve strength5 and bolster muscle gains.

Another key ingredient is arginine, an amino acid that aids nitric oxide production and enhances blood flow to the muscles, potentially enhancing performance and endurance.

The 200 milligrams of caffeine anhydrous may boost energy levels and mental focus. BlackWolf also contains Dynamine, a trademarked ingredient that may improve working memory, cognitive control, and reaction time6 when taken with caffeine.

Since the fruit punch flavor doesn’t include caffeine, it features DMAE and huperzine instead. These ingredients support the production and longevity of neurotransmitters that may improve cognitive function, such as focus and alertness, during a workout.

Additionally, the inclusion of taurine and L-tyrosine could enhance concentration, alertness, and focus. Coconut water powder is rich in electrolytes, aiding in hydration support. Lastly, the added Bioperine aims to increase nutrient absorption, potentially maximizing the benefits of BlackWolf Pre-Workout.

BlackWolf Pre-Workout is made with natural flavors and dyes. However, they include the artificial sweeteners sucralose and Ace K. Certain artificial sweeteners may disrupt the balance of healthy gut bacteria, which may increase the risk of disease. However, more studies are needed to solidify this claim.

Taste and Solubility

Our product testers neither loved nor hated the taste of BlackWolf Pre-Workout, rating it a 3 out of 5. Nicole Davis, GGR head of content and certified nutrition coach, tried the Green Apple flavor and said, “It wasn’t super flavorful, just an overall sweet taste.” Our other product tester had a similar response, sharing, “The Apple flavor was super underwhelming. It was overly sweet with fake sugars.”

Artificial sweeteners are extremely sweet and can be overwhelming for some individuals. Sucralose, included in BlackWolf Pre-Workout, is approximately 600 times sweeter than table sugar. That said, taste is subjective, and several customer reviews on the BlackWolf website approve of the product’s taste.

Looking down into a container of BlackWolf Pre-Workout at a powder that's roughly the color of a peeled banana.

Our testers rated solubility slightly higher at a 4 out of 5. They reported that there were a few clumps but overall it was fine mixed in a shaker.

Side Effects

Our product tester was a little let down by the lack of effects he felt after taking BlackWolf Pre-Workout. “I started to feel the tingles, but they went away fairly quickly,” he said. “I do not feel like I experienced any focus or energy either.”

Tingly or itchy skin is a common side effect of beta-alanine that’s harmless and usually subsides within 60 to 90 minutes.

Although our tester didn’t notice any energy boost, everyone’s caffeine tolerance is different. If you are sensitive to caffeine, you may want to consider the stim-free option or limit your caffeine intake on days you take pre-workout. Too much caffeine can result in insomnia, jitters, and headaches.

Third-Party Testing

The BlackWolf website does not mention third-party testing. We always recommend prioritizing products that undergo third-party testing for quality and purity. This process helps ensure that products do not contain harmful levels of heavy metals or other contaminants and that the ingredients listed on the label are accurate.

BlackWolf vs Pre-Lab Pro

GGR Score: 3.1

Product Highlights

  • Natural berry flavor
  • Moderate caffeine content
  • Vegan, vegetarian, GMO-free
  • 1 serving is 1 scoop
  • Nootropic-enhanced

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • All-natural ingredients
  • Vegan and vegetarian
  • Gluten-free, soy-free
  • Non-GMO
  • Nootropic-enhanced

Cons

  • Moderate dose of caffeine may not be enough for everyone
  • Only 1 flavor available

Bottom Line

Pre-Lab Pro is vegan and vegetarian-friendly, allergen-friendly, non-GMO, soy-free, gluten-free, and free from artificial flavors and synthetic additives

While Pre-Lab Pro and BlackWolf may share a high price point, their similarities largely end there. Pre-Lab Pro contains significantly less citrulline and caffeine compared to BlackWolf and lacks beta-alanine and creatine altogether.

Unlike BlackWolf, Pre-Lab Pro features B vitamins, vitamin D, and iron for energy production, bone and muscle health, and oxygen delivery to working muscles. It also includes beetroot powder, a vasodilator that allows for increased blood and oxygen delivery to muscles.

Pre-Lab Pro undergoes third-party testing, whereas BlackWolf does not. Furthermore, unlike BlackWolf, Pre-Lab Pro does not contain any artificial ingredients such as sucralose.

Customer Reviews

The BlackWolf website markets several happy reviews from verified customers, although they don’t show an overall rating or any negative reviews. One customer says, “I have no crash regardless of the workout intensity and have enough push and drive to finish the workout. I noticed a great pump and muscle volume too.”

Another satisfied customer writes, “Amazing clean energy that you need and starts working immediately. Absolutely no jitters combined with mental focus and aids you in achieving your goals. Great flavors are a plus!”

Final Verdict of Our BlackWolf Review

BlackWolf Pre-Workout is crammed with research-backed ingredients that could improve physical performance and focus during training sessions. We like that it contains clinically effective dosages of key ingredients, although several other ingredients are slightly underdosed, but we weren’t blown away by the flavor, effects, or cost per serving. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a vegan pre-workout with both stimulant and non-stim options featuring top-tier ingredients, BlackWolf could be worth a shot.

  • Contains 6 grams of citrulline malate for enhanced athletic performance
  • Features 3 grams of creatine for improved strength and greater muscle mass
  • Stim-free option available
  • Satisfactory solubility with minimal clumping
