Are protein powders OK for kids?

Adult protein powders are generally not suitable for children. The protein content of adult protein powder contains more protein than young children need. Instead, talk to your child’s doctor about implementing a protein powder made specifically for kids. 

At what age should you start taking protein powder?

There is no set age at which it’s appropriate to start taking a protein powder. Aim to improve daily protein intake through foods first. If your child struggles to eat enough protein, their doctor may recommend a nutrient-dense protein powder to enhance their growth and development. 

What is the best protein powder for kids in sports?

Kids in sports may benefit from a whey, egg white, pea, or soy protein powder, considering these are complete protein sources ideal for muscle growth and recovery. If your child is not meeting their protein needs, aim to add more protein-rich foods to their diet before considering a supplement.
