Bells of Steel Safety Squat Bar – The SS3

The Bells of Steel Squat Safety Bar SS3 is designed to allow those with limited shoulder, elbow, and wrist mobility to squat comfortably and safely. This high-quality specialty bar features a tensile strength of 190,000 PSI, maximum weight rating of 1,500 pounds, and a single-piece dense foam padding. The SS3 is equipped with a yoke design measuring approximately 8-inches in width, accommodating most users. It creates a comfortable and natural hand/shoulder position with the grip of the handles.

Towards that end, Bells of Steel includes three different handle options; a short handle, long handle, and chain handle. The variety of handles contributes to the unique design, which focuses on function as well as user preference.

The SS3 has a notable 22-degree camber angle, which is what creates the stimulus that a safety squat bar provides. This angle leads to a well-balanced and ergonomic bar position. The SS3 differs from most safety squat bars on the market by offering rotating sleeves. While this is a cool feature, it is not necessarily one that will be used often on this bar. 

One area where the SS3 falls short is the loadable sleeve length, which measures a bit less than 12 inches as compared to the 16-inch long sleeves seen on most other safety squat bars. If you plan on lifting heavy, this may be a limiting factor in strength progressions. However, with narrow plates this becomes a non-issue.
