Product Summary
The Shokz OpenSwim Headphones utilize bone conduction and waterproofing to provide an open-ear swimming headphone. The headphones sit in front of your ear and transmit vibrations to your inner ear via the cheek bones, bypassing your ear canal.
This allows you to listen to music or podcasts while working out without having anything in your ear canal. Shokz completed a rebranding in 2021, changing from AfterShokz to Shokz. Their website indicated that you may receive older products that still have AfterShokz branding.
The OpenSwim Headphones are designed for swimmers, they have a IP68 waterproof rating, meaning that they can be submerged up to two meters deep for up to two hours.
These headphones feature 4GB of storage space and are compatible with multiple file types. They do not feature Bluetooth for out-of-water use. Due to this, they will not work with your streaming services. Shokz has a video to teach you how to place music onto your headphones for your workout. The battery life on these headphones is 8 hours.
The OpenSwim Headphones have generally positive reviews. Multiple customers described these as the best swimming headphones they have ever used. They were surprised how good the sound was underwater.
They found the headphones stayed in place and were comfortable during their workouts. Complaints included that the headphones shuffled all their songs. People were also frustrated with the difficulty of downloading an audiobook to their headphones.
Some users also had issues with the durability of the headphones. Users experienced the headphones failing to hold a charge after months of use or one of the headphones losing sound. People did find Shokz customer service responsive when they ordered the product through the Shokz website.
