A Quick Look at the PYHIGH S7 Indoor Cycling Bike

The PYHIGH S7 Indoor Cycling Bike is a budget version of studio cycling bikes like the NordicTrack S22i or the Peloton bike, meaning it’s not going to be quite as nice as those bikes but for the price you get a lot of nice features. It has a heavy 48-pound flywheel and 100 micro-adjustable resistance levels, a padded seat, adjustable handlebars, a silent belt drive, and more. 

While the resistance wasn’t the toughest in the world, Garage Gym Reviews founder and cardio equipment virtuoso Cooper Mitchell enjoyed his experience on the PYHIGH. The biggest thing you sacrifice with this budget bike is the technology, as it only comes with a basic LCD monitor and has no Bluetooth or WiFi connectivity.

  • Multiple customer reviews state you should pay close attention to the assembly instructions and take your time putting this together (especially the 48-lb flywheel).

Is the PYHIGH S7 Indoor Cycling Bike Worth It?

Spoiler alert: For most people, the PYHIGH S7 Indoor Cycling Bike is definitely worth it. For under $400, you get a lot of features that we don’t see on much more expensive stationary exercise bikes. If you’re a serious cyclist, as in someone who wants to feel like they’re riding a road bike indoors, then purchasing an Echelon exercise bike or a Schwinn might be worth it.

For the average home gym owner who just wants a quick, comfortable cardio workout and doesn’t mind not having an exercise bike with a screen, the PYHIGH S7 will do just fine.

Workout Experience with the PYHIGH S7 Indoor Cycling Bike

The first thing I noticed about the PYHIGH S7 Indoor Cycling Bike is that its seat is thicker than a fudge-covered double-stuffed Oreo that’s been stuck in the freezer overnight. For most people that’s a good thing, but as Coop points out there are some cyclists who might prefer something a bit firmer. 

“It’s definitely comfortable and I would say made more for the general user,” Coop says, “and not the true cyclist that uses their sit bones for support.”

As you might guess, the sit bones are the bones in the buttocks that road cyclists use to sit on their bike seat. Certain seats are better suited to alleviate sit bone pain and the PYHIGH’s cushioned seat is not one of them, but that’s certainly not the crowd this bike is meant for anyway. 

Resistance

When it came to the resistance, Coop called it “adequate,” which in Coop’s language means it got the job done. The average home gym owner will be able to find a resistance setting tough enough to challenge them, thanks to the 100 levels of micro-adjustable resistance. 

The one big problem with the resistance system is its friction resistance, which is produced by a felt pad making contact with the bidirectional flywheel. While more affordable than magnetic resistance, the pad does wear down over time and if it does that after the company’s 18-month warranty is up then you might be out of luck. 

“A quick search online did not reveal replacement parts for the bike,” Coop says. “This would likely take thousands of miles, but still a potential problem.”

Flywheel and Belt Drive

What really separates this bike from other budget-friendly options, in Coop’s opinion, are the 48-pound flywheel and belt-drive system. The heavy flywheel helps create more tension, and the belt-driven system is what propels the flywheel. The two features combined help create a quiet and smooth ride. 

“Those are usually saved for much more expensive, high-quality bikes and having them on something that is at this price range will make it appealing to a large audience,” Coop says.

Console 

The only big downside of this bike is the lack of technology features. You get a basic LCD display that shows your pulse and heart rate, calories burned, distance, time, speed, and rotations per minute (RPM), but that’s it—no Bluetooth or WiFi.

Handlebars and Seat

You do have non-slip multi-grip handlebars, which are very grippy, that can be used to support a smartphone, iPad, or laptop. Users have reported the handlebars are steady and they would trust their technology on it, and Coop says the bike itself is sturdy during use. 

“No issues doing the type of movements you see done in spin bike classes where people are standing off the saddles and essentially dancing on the bikes,” he says.

The handlebars offer four-way adjustability, which in addition to the four-way adjustable seat makes this a highly-adjustable bike that can accommodate users from 4 feet, 5 inches tall all the way up to those 6 foot, 5 inches tall. 

Pedals

The caged pedals are aluminum adjustable toe cages that will keep your feet in place at all times during your cycling workout. 

Durability and Construction

As we noted, Coop found the bike to be quite sturdy during use, which is a little surprising considering the bike only weighs 90 pounds (in addition to being lightweight it also has transport wheels for easy portability). It does have a heavy-duty solid steel frame and a 400-pound weight capacity, which is incredible for a bike at this price point. 

The only part we have concerns with is the brake pad. The company has an 18-month parts replacement warranty but to be honest, it would probably take longer than that for the pad or most other parts to deteriorate to the point where they’d need replacing.

Oh, and it costs about $100 less than the PYHIGH. 

Does that mean you should just go for Sunny because it’s more affordable? Well, not necessarily. PYHIGH’s bike is more adjustable, so it’s a better fit for people who share their home gym with family or friends, has a more comfortable seat, and has a 400-pound weight capacity, compared to Sunny’s 275 pounds.
