This isn’t the first Transparent Labs Multivitamin review we’ve done, as we’ve already rated it the best overall multivitamin for women. However, we wanted to take a deeper dive into the dietary supplement this time around to see if it’s worth adding to your wellness regimen.

To be frank, you don’t really need to use supplements as long as you’re getting a balanced diet that provides key nutrients, like magnesium, b vitamins, and vitamin C. However, if you’re following a specific dietary regime, for instance, a multivitamin may be necessary. And in that case,  you’ll want a good one.

RELATED: Best Multivitamins

As a registered dietitian and supplement expert, I’ll take a closer look at Transparent Labs’ multivitamin to see if it meets our standards for formulation, third-party testing, and more. So, if you’re already a fan of their creatine HMB, pre-workout, collagen, or protein powder, it might be time to add another supplement to your stack.

Like Taking a Good Multi, Sharing Expertise Is Our Daily Routine

Whether it’s a sports nutritionist, Olympic lifter, certified personal trainer, or registered dietitian, you can bet that every dietary supplement that comes our way has been tested personally by experts, so we can provide you with objective, unbiased feedback. Our team has evaluated a wide range of supplements, including the best electrolytes and the top-rated protein powders, with Transparent Labs earning spots on both lists.

We rate products using a 1 to 5 scale using our supplement testing methodology. This methodology examines criteria like:

  • Formulation quality
  • Taste/swallowability
  • Side effects
  • Third-party testing
  • Price/value
  • Customer reviews/service

Cons

  • May be sold out

A Quick Look at the Transparent Labs Multivitamin

Possibly best known for their fat burner products for weight loss, creatine, and grass-fed whey protein isolate, Transparent Labs is emerging as an industry leader in the sports supplement industry. Most of their products are third-party tested and free of preservatives, artificial colors, artificial flavors or fillers and their multivitamin is no different, checking each of these boxes while also being gluten-free and non-GMO.

RELATED: Transparent Labs Protein Review

Before You Buy

  • Contains an antioxidant complex, which is uncommon in a multivitamin
  • Not a one-a-day formula; the serving size is 4 capsules daily
  • Safe for those who are gluten-free or vegan
  • One bottle contains 30 servings

Is the Transparent Labs Multivitamin Worth It?

One thing that’s great about this multivitamin is that it contains multiple capsules in a serving. Many health professionals believe that one-a-day formulas don’t cut it, as it’s nearly impossible to pack enough of the micronutrients needed for optimal wellness in one pill unless the vitamins are severely underdosed.

With this in mind, along with the multivitamin having multiple third-party certifications, you’ll likely get the value you need from the price. However, if you’re not an athlete, the cost is pretty steep for a formulation that’s above-average at best.

Great for:

  • Athletes who train very intensely and/or submit to drug testing
  • People concerned about heavy metal contamination
  • Those with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or who have had bariatric surgery

Not recommended for:

  • People who struggle to take daily pills
  • Those looking for a replacement for healthy eating
  • Individuals who just need a general-use multivitamin

Experience Using the Transparent Labs Multivitamin

Our team had a lukewarm experience taking this wellness multivitamin. We love how high-quality it is, that it’s third-party tested, and that it has a decent formulation. However, the serving size, smell, and swallowability presented some issues.

Price Per Serving

Without any special discounts, Transparent Labs Multivitamin comes out to about $1.33 per serving. Spending more than a dollar per serving for a multivitamin might be a deal breaker for some people’s budgets, so we had to give a 3 out of 5 rating for price.

How does that compare to similar products we’ve tried? You can get a much better bang for your buck with the Nutricost Multivitamin, which has a budget-friendly price-per-serving of just $0.23.

Formulation

From their grass-fed whey protein isolate to their ashwagandha, Transparent Labs normally excels as offering products with thoughtful, evidence-based formulations. The deck was stacked against them with the multivitamin, though, as nearly all multivitamins are wrought with micronutrients that simply don’t need to be there.

RELATED: Best Ashwagandha Supplement

Let’s start with the good, though. Transparent Labs Multivitamin is vegan-friendly and claims to contain essential nutrients in bioavailable forms that mimic the absorbability as if you had obtained them from whole food sources.

Indeed some essential nutrients like certain B vitamins and Vitamin E are absorbed more favorably1 when they come from a supplement rather than from whole foods.

Additionally, it is rich in antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin. These types of antioxidants contribute to protecting cells from damage caused by free radicals2 and are normally found in leafy vegetables and eggs. To give an idea, the 20 mg of lutein in Transparent Labs Multivitamin is about the same as you would get from two cups of raw kale.

While that’s all great, the only other thing that makes this product worth the price is possibly the vitamin D, as most Americans are deficient3 in this vitamin and it’s hard to derive from whole foods. Recent evidence shows positive vitamin D status may help you build muscle and improve athletic performance4.

Other than that, this multivitamin contains high doses of water-soluble nutrients, like B vitamins, that most folks can get from common foods. Disappointingly, useful micronutrients like vitamin A and iron are only present at 17% and 2% of the daily value, respectively, which makes me wonder why they are included at all.

Finally, Transparent Labs makes a big deal out of the high-quality vitamin K in their product. However, most Americans get enough vitamin K from their diet, making deficiency rare5. Vitamin K is also one of the vitamins our gut bacteria synthesizes when we aren’t getting enough, so supplementation is largely unnecessary for most people.

At the end of the day, though, we gave a score of 4.5 out of 5 because the multivitamin is high-quality, has an appropriate serving size, and contains most of the key nutrients you’d be looking for in a multivitamin for overall health and wellness.

Taste and Swallowability

For taste and swallowability, we gave a rating of 3 out of 5, based on the feedback from our testers. “The directions suggest taking 4 capsules with your first meal of the day,” reports one of our team members. “It’s a bit much to take all 4 of them at once since they’re rather large, and I still felt one stuck in my throat for a few minutes afterward.”

Closeup of over 20 Transparent Labs Multivitamin capsules, filled with a cream-colored powder and sitting amongst the product bottle's lid and a copper penny as a size comparison.

RELATED: 14 Best Multivitamins For Men in 2025

This is a sharp contrast to some other multivitamins we’ve tested. For example, our team gave perfect scores for swallowability for all three types of Ritual Vitamins we’ve tried. If capsules aren’t your thing, you could consider a gummy like Olly Vitamins instead.

Side Effects

Though our team didn’t experience adverse physical effects, they did have issues with the odor. “These smell bad,” one of our testers warns. “So I could see myself struggling to take them daily since the odor makes them hard to consume.” Given that, we rated the side effects a 3.5 out of 5.

In general you want to be careful with multivitamins, as they are not regulated by the FDA. When a vitamin is over 100% of its daily value, it is not necessarily dangerous. It merely indicates how much a person needs to meet their daily nutritional requirements.

Water-soluble vitamins, like B vitamins, are typically used by the body with the excess being safely excreted in urine. However, more care should be taken with fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A and vitamin E, which are stored in fat tissue and carry a higher risk of toxicity.

Luckily, none of the ingredients in Transparent Labs multivitamin are dosed at high enough levels to cause a toxicity, and it carries certifications to verify safety.

Third-Party Testing

It may surprise many to know that many multivitamin supplements are afflicted with heavy-metal contamination6 (again, no FDA certifications). This is where third-party tested vitamins can provide a layer of safety. Luckily, Transparent Labs passes this portion of our testing methodology with flying colors.

Not only is this multivitamin tested by Dyad Labs for heavy-metal contamination and purity, but it’s also tested by Informed Choice. This means it is safe for athletes who want to steer clear of banned substances. So, we gave a perfect 5 out of 5 in the third-party testing category.

Transparent Labs Multivitamin vs Nutricost Multivitamin

Product Highlights

  • Budget-friendly
  • High doses of 22 vitamins and minerals
  • Probiotics for gut health
  • Dairy-free, soy-free, non-GMO, gluten-free

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Research-backed doses of 22 vitamins and minerals
  • Probiotics for gut health
  • 60 servings per bottle
  • 60 day money-back-guarantee

Cons

  • Some customers say the capsules taste bad and can be hard to swallow

Bottom Line

Nutricost Multivitamins has research-backed doses of 22 vitamins and minerals, and is also one of the most affordable multivitamin supplements.

Between these capsules, the big difference is the cost, with Nutricost staying true to being budget-friendly at over $1 cheaper per serving compared to Transparent Labs. It also has a smaller serving size, which is good news for those who have issues swallowing pills.

Both contain similar micronutrients. However, Nutricost doesn’t contain antioxidants like Transparent Labs. On the other hand, while Transparent Labs doesn’t contain anything for gut health, like a prebiotic, Nutricost has a probiotic enzyme blend that supports healthy digestion..

Customer Reviews

Out of 185 reviews on the Transparent Labs website, ratings come out to an average of 4.64 out of 5. Most reviews praise what the product has done for their wellness, energy levels, and mood.

Final Verdict of Our Transparent Labs Multivitamin Review

Though multivitamins in general are largely unnecessary if you follow a well-balanced diet, it can’t hurt for active individuals to get in some extra micronutrients, especially if you want to maximize your performance.

This is why a sports dietitian will usually recommend a multivitamin to elite athletes with other nutrients like vitamin D,omega-3 fatty acids, and coenzyme q10 (commonly called CoQ10). A dietitian nutritionist may also recommend a multivitamin to people who have had bariatric surgery or have conditions like IBS that can affect nutrient absorption and overall health.

RELATED: Best Fish Oil Supplement

If you’re looking for a high-quality supplement or are worried about potential contamination, then Transparent Labs is likely worth the higher-than-average price. However, if you’re just looking for a general multivitamin, you can find something similar that’s more economical.

  • Some cheaper nutrients are overdosed while some key nutrients are underdosed
  • Four large pills can be a lot for some
  • Third-party tested for sport, which is hard to find with a multivitamin
