Product Summary
The Shimano RC5 is Shimano’s mid-range cycling shoe, which best lends itself to short or mid-distance cyclists. Available at a budget friendly price, the RC5 offers a good amount of stiffness, comfortable upper, and an easy velcro and single Boa closure. The single Boa may make it difficult for those with narrow feet to dial in the fit, but the majority of reviews applaud the comfort of these shoes.
Featuring a wrap-around upper design and soles constructed with nylon and reinforced along the midsole with carbon, the RC5 provides a decent amount of flex, which improves comfort. However, this level of flex does sacrifice the power transfer which, according to several cyclists, is not suited for long or intense rides. Compatible with three-bolt style cleats, Shimano specifically recommends their SPD-SL cleat.
