Versatility is the way of the future. We have phones that serve as computers, MP3 players and notepads. There are vans out there that have been converted into houses and our garages are now our gyms. Just like single-use plastic, items with one purpose are going out of style.

The NordicTrack C1650 is perfect for this new trend of versatility. With a running deck that has customizable cushioning, a decent incline range, a great motor for serious runners, and built-in workouts, you can get a great workout and burn calories in many different ways.

In our NordicTrack C1650 review, we will talk about all the great options and give you an amazing alternative for this now-discontinued treadmill.

Looking for an Alternative to the NordicTrack C 1650?

While the C1650 is discontinued, a great alternative option is the NordicTrack Commercial 1750. This model is the big sister to the now-discontinued C1650 in NordicTrack’s “C Series.”

With the same great 3.5 CHP motor and a bigger touchscreen coming in at 14 inches, the 1750 provides almost the same experience as the C1650. The 1750 does have an improved incline, as it goes up to 15% versus the C1650’s 12%.

Key Treadmill Features of the NordicTrack C1650

Equipped with “FlexSelect,” the NordicTrack C1650 treadmill gives you the ability to choose how cushioned you want your run. Simply turn it on for a more cushioned treadmill experience or switch it off to mimic running outside.

If you’re using iFIT, the interactive Google Maps workouts let you run around the world. iFIT puts personal trainers at your fingertips. Don’t want to pay for an iFIT subscription? No problem. There are 34 on-board workout programs for you to get your cardio in. These are sorted into four categories: intensity, heart rate, incline, and speed

Footprint, Portability, and Durability

While this treadmill has a hulk of a footprint coming in at 78 inches long, it does fold using NordicTracks “SpaceSaver design” to help you save some space. However, it weighs more than 200 pounds, so it probably is not the easiest machine to move.

The NordicTrack Commercial Series treadmills typically have great motors. The C1650 features a 3.5 continuous horsepower motor, which is great for serious runners and those joggers who plan on using the machine frequently. However, in our research, we found that the C 1650 has smaller treadmill rollers that could affect its durability long term if you are a serious runner. This might be something to consider as they could need replacing often.

Ergonomics

We love the FlexSelect cushioning, and we have seen it before on other models of the Commercial 1750. You can turn the cushioning on for more joint protection, or flip it off for a harder running surface that would resemble road running.

There are heart rate monitoring handlebars as well as a Bluetooth chest strap option to record your stats throughout your workout. This treadmill also has AutoAdjust, so if you are running with iFIT and Google Maps, the incline and speed will automatically adjust to match the virtual terrain.

The C1650 comes with “OneTouch” controls, which means you can just press a button to quickly adjust your speed or incline.

Technology Benefits and Conveniences

The 10-inch HD touchscreen display is web-enabled so you can browse the internet as you walk. If Netflix is more your style, the adjustable tablet holder would support your device. There is also the ability to connect your smartphone or iPod to play music. The two 3-inch speakers are also bigger than some of the other cheaper models, and the AutoBreeze cooling fan adjusts to the intensity of your run.

Customer Reviews of the NordicTrack C1650

The C1650 reviewers on Amazon really loved the adjustable tablet holder option, and many reviews commented on just how quiet the belt is on this model. The built-in workouts were also a big hit, especially how they were categorized so you knew what type of workout you were getting.

Something I found in almost every customer review was some version of how difficult this treadmill is to set up. Many also had issues with the fans not being adjustable for shorter users, and a couple reviews mentioned that sometimes the belt would randomly stop and restart in the middle of a workout.

Final Verdict of Our NordicTrack C1650 Review

Not only does the treadmill have versatility, but it is a lot easier on the budget than some other NordicTrack treadmill models. This is a great machine for someone who isn’t sure what type of treadmill is best for them.

With traditional running, incline options, workout apps and iFIT, this treadmill gives the beginner a sample of everything NordicTrack treadmills have to offer. If you can’t find the C1650 anywhere, we suggest looking at the Commercial 1750 as an alternative.
