A Quick Look at Saladpower

SaladPower is a ready-to-drink veggie- and fruit-blended greens supplement packed with vitamins and nutrients while being low in calories and avoiding excess sugar. The company was founded by Stephan Lotfi, who sought to address the need for healthier beverage alternatives and increase the percentage of organic farmland in America. These ready-to-drink beverages cater to health-conscious consumers seeking a convenient way to boost their daily nutrition while lowering their carbon footprint.

According to a U.S. Department of Agriculture1 (USDA) study, the average American only eats about 0.9 cups of fruit and 1.4 cups of vegetables daily, about half of the USDA-recommended amount as directed by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans—making SaladPower a viable option to help improve your nutritional habits.

According to the company’s website, they only use certified organic fruits and vegetables in their convenient smoothie pouches—an option that isn’t yet available for many greens supplements.

Before You Buy

  • Consider recurring monthly deliveries or one-time purchase options. You can save money by signing up for their subscription service—especially if you drink SaladPower smoothies consistently.
  • Consider buying in bulk (packs of 6, 18, and 30) to cut down on the price per serving.
  • SaladPower is Certified Organic by ODAFF, but you’ll still want to check to make sure you’re not allergic to any of the ingredients used.

Is SaladPower Worth It?

SaladPower is one of the few ready-to-drink greens options; pair that accessibility with each densely-packed serving of vegetables, and I believe it’s worth a try. But with the cost starting at $9 per serving, it may not be worth it for all consumers.

Here’s a look at who the SaladPower smoothie might be the best fit for and who should pass.

Great for:

  • Those looking to easily add more vegetables to their diet.
  • People who have busy schedules and need convenient micronutrient options.
  • Consumers who want certified organic products.
  • Those who have certain dietary restrictions (such as dairy- or gluten-free).

Not recommended for:

  • Those on a budget.
  • People prefer tasty or flavored options over “very veggie”.

A Certified Sports Nutrition Coach’s Experience Using SaladPower

SaladPower is changing the game with its simplicity in packaging and formulation in a supplement world filled with complex and proprietary blends. What struck me immediately was the straightforwardness of this product—every essential detail was right there, front and center.

The pouch design is straightforward to read, making the ingredients list readily accessible on the label. It’s a clever touch; no more hunting down intricate words or feeling like I needed a chemistry degree to decipher what I was consuming. As someone who appreciates minimalistic design and clarity in product information, SaladPower earns bonus points effortlessly.

Storing the product was just as simple as its design and formulation. Pop the pouches out of the box and slide them into your fridge. You can store them at room temp, but SaladPower (and I) highly recommend refrigerating them. When you’re ready for your smoothie pouch, simply twist the top tab, and your greens are good to go. There’s no searching for a scoop in the bottom of a tub, mixing, or concerning yourself with finding a blender bottle. SaladPower clearly shows that two pillars of thought, simple and convenient, stand true.

Each morning, incorporating a pouch of SaladPower became a part of my breakfast routine. It was a convenient way to kickstart my daily fruit and vegetable intake, and I found it contributed positively to my overall sense of vitality. I experimented by splitting the pouch, consuming half in the morning and saving the rest for lunchtime. I didn’t encounter any taste concerns even after resealing the pouch. It seemingly maintained its flavor and freshness throughout the day.

Price Per Serving

The price per serving of SaladPower varies based on the number of pouches ordered. If you purchase the 6-pouch option, you’ll pay $9.00 per serving. The 18-pouch brings the price per serving down to $8.05, while the 30-pouch serving stands at $7.30. You’ll also see in the table below that the subscription option brings the price per serving down considerably.

One-time cost per servingSubscribe & save cost per serving
6-pouch$9.00$7.65
18-pouch$8.05$6.84
30-pouch$7.30$6.20

Although SaladPower is a quick, convenient, and nutrient-dense option, it’s hard to justify the price point, even when considering the bundle discounts. For this reason, I gave the price per serving a score of 2 out of 5.

Formulation

SaladPower is a greens product that is as simple as its label. It skips added sugar, uses natural ingredients, and provides fiber—5 grams, to be exact—earning this smoothie a 5 out of 5 for its formula.

SaladPower back of bag

SaladPower is formulated with the following ingredients per pouch:

  • 16 spinach leaves
  • 12 kale leaves
  • 5 carrots
  • 4 broccoli heads
  • ½ apple
  • ½ lemon

Notable vitamins and minerals with their % of recommended daily dose:

  • Vitamin A2 (100%): Important for vision, the immune system, reproduction, and growth development.
  • Vitamin K3 (8%): Supports synthesis of proteins involved in hemostasis (blood clotting) and bone metabolism and other diverse physiological functions.
  • Vitamin C4 (20%): Helps protect cells and maintain healthy skin, blood vessels, bone, and cartilage.
  • Iron5 (30%): Helps maintain healthy blood.
  • Calcium6 (6%): Supports strong bones and teeth, but also helps with blood clotting, muscle contraction, and regulating heart rhythm
  • Potassium7 (15%): Helps maintain fluid levels inside of cells
  • Magnesium8 (4%): Assists enzymes carry out various chemical reactions in the body such as building proteins and strong bones, and regulating blood sugar, blood pressure, and muscle and nerve functions.

Registered Sports Dietician, Destini Moody, took some time to check out the SaladPower nutrition facts and gave me her two cents. “I love that spinach and kale are included as they have some of the highest antioxidant contents of popular greens and are rich in Vitamin K. Adding carrots was also a good move for a great source of Vitamin A.”

However, she did have a few changes she’d like to see. “The amount of veggies SaladPower managed to pack in is impressive for such a low-calorie product. However, I do wish they had included other colors of veggies (such as red bell peppers, beets, or cherry tomatoes) to diversify the antioxidant content.”

Taste and Texture

SaladPower makes it known that the product tastes very veggie. Upon reading this, I adjusted my expectations, both low and high. Being (many) years removed from eating baby food, I wasn’t displeased at the taste of SaladPower, and they are right—it’s very veggie-tasting. There was a noticeable difference in taste between a chilled and room-temperature pouch. I didn’t have a strong opinion either way, but some customers found the taste to be “inedible,” leading me to a score of 2 out of 5 for taste.

SaladPower has a mushier texture, which is common for organic, vegetable-focused drinks. Blending veggies poses challenges for a smoother consistency without losing nutrition. This earns the veggie smoothie a 3 out of 5. I bumped the score for the texture higher than the taste due to its unique formulation among limited comparable options.

Customer Reviews

On its website, SaladPower has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars with more than 500 reviews. Happy customers have found the product convenient and easy to fit more vegetables into their diet.

Customers who left negative reviews thought it tasted bad, wasn’t easy to consume, and did not favor the price point.

Final Verdict of My SaladPower Review

SaladPower offers consumers of greens supplements a nutrient-dense, simple, and convenient option for meeting recommended daily fruit and vegetable doses.

My key takeaways:

  • SaladPower is a certified organic greens smoothie product packed with nutrient-dense vegetables.
  • It skips the added sugar while retaining the fiber.
  • The taste isn’t for everyone—but the convenience might be.

That said, I wouldn’t be doing my due diligence as a fitness professional if I didn’t remind you that while convenient, products like this should not be used as a substitute for eating a healthy, balanced diet!

SaladPower Organic Smoothie Review: FAQs

Does salad power taste good?

SaladPower tastes—okay. There will be a give-and-take taste and benefit relationship for greens powders, especially ready-to-drink options containing dense amounts of fruits and vegetables. SaladPower does a good job of informing you to refrigerate for the best taste and that the flavor profile is “very veggie,” leaving no surprises when consumed.

What are the ingredients in salad power?

Every pouch of SaladPower has two times the USDA daily servings of organic vegetables, including spinach leaves, kale, carrots, broccoli, apple, and lemon.

Are vegetable smoothies as good as eating vegetables?

Blending your vegetables may help provide your recommended dietary intake of micronutrients and help your body absorb those nutrients more efficiently. According to a November 2022 study from the National Library of Medicine10, “Fruit smoothies, without added sugars, can be a healthy way to consume the recommended daily dose of fruits if the fruit serving size is equivalent to what one would consume if the fruit(s) were whole.”
