Amanda Dvorak, ISSA-CPT, ISSA-CNC

Amanda is an ISSA-certified personal trainer and certified nutritionist whose work has been featured in Fortune, Breaking Muscle, BarBend, PowerliftingTechnique, Fitbod, and FeastGood. She grew up in a family that loved sports, which taught her the importance of staying active. She’s experimented with all kinds of workouts, including running, hiking, and kickboxing, but her two favorite activities are CrossFit and lifting heavy weights. She considers her garage gym her happy place. When she’s not writing or editing content related to fitness and nutrition, you can find Amanda spending time with her husband and family; taking her dog Charlie for long walks; trying to convince her two cats, Raven and Riley, that hugs are the best; and drinking copious amounts of coffee.

Are you a current or former military personnel who loves Nike apparel and equipment? We’re here to help you save money on the brand’s fashionable yet functional products.

Nike, Inc.’s swoosh logo is recognizable worldwide. The activewear and lifestyle brand is known for stylish apparel and footwear, but its items aren’t always the most affordable. Fortunately, Nike offers discounts for members of the military community.

If you’re active duty, a veteran, a reservist, or a retired member of the Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, National Guard, Coast Guard, or Space Force, keep reading. We’ll share ways you can save on tees, backpacks, running shoes, and more in stores, on Nike.com, or in the Nike app.

Nike Military Discount

Nike offers 10% off eligible items for active duty, reservist, veteran, and retired US military personnel. Spouses and dependents of military service members can also use the discount.

If you’re shopping at a Nike store, simply show your military ID at checkout. For online or in-app purchases, follow the steps below to use your military discount code.

Note that you can only use each discount code once, and it’s only available for a limited time. The code expires after two weeks. Some exclusions apply—for example, you can’t use your military discount on gift cards or Apple products. Additionally, you can only use a military discount code once every seven days, and you have to request a new one each time.

How to Apply the Nike Military Discount

Step One: Sign up to become a Nike Member on the company’s website. (Don’t worry—it’s free.)

Step Two: Visit SheerID.com to verify your military status. You may need to show documentation as part of the verification process.

Step Three: Once verified, you’ll receive a one-time discount code for 10% off eligible items at Nike.com or in the Nike app.

Step Four: Add your desired items to your cart, then enter your discount code at checkout. You must be signed in to your Nike Member profile to use the code.

Why We Love Nike

Nike 20 KG Barbell

Nike 20 Kg Coated Premium Barbell

product image
GGR Score: 4.05
Check Price

Product Highlights

  • 20-kg multi-use barbell with ceramic-based coating
  • Nike logo or slogan on barbell shaft
  • Available in Black, Orange, or Red
  • 28-mm shaft diameter
  • Dual knurl marks
  • Needle bearing rotation
  • Tensile strength of 190,000 PSI

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Good tensile strength
  • Color options available
  • Dual knurl marks
  • Needle bearings

Cons

  • No center knurl
  • Thinner diameter than most multi-use bars

Bottom Line

The Nike Coated Premium Barbell is a 20-kilogram barbell with good specs and even better aesthetics. The barbell comes in black with the “Just Do It” slogan on the center of the bar, or in orange or red, with the Nike swoosh. The barbell has a shaft diameter of 28 millimeters and needle bearings—ideal for Olympic weightlifting, although it may not have the right specs for a dedicated powerlifting bar.

Nike started off as a modest shoe company. It’s since grown into the world’s largest supplier of athletic apparel and sports equipment. The company sponsors numerous professional and collegiate sports teams as well as individual athletes. It even offers training resources, like the Nike Training Club and Nike Run Club apps.

However, you don’t need to be an athlete to wear or use any of Nike’s trending products. Nike also makes clothes, footwear, and accessories you can easily wear around town or when hanging out with friends. It’s almost impossible to walk around a shopping mall without seeing at least one person sporting Air Jordans.

Here are a few reasons why we love Nike:

  • GGR’s resident CrossFitters often say that Nike’s Metcon sneakers are some of the best training shoes available.
  • In addition to military discounts, Nike also offers discounts for teachers, school staff, first responders, and eligible medical professionals.
  • As discussed in our Nike strength equipment review, we were impressed with the brand’s foray into the home gym equipment space.
  • Nike’s customer service staff is available seven days a week and can be reached via phone or online chat.
  • Nike.com accepts multiple forms of payment, including Apple Pay and PayPal, to make checkout even easier.
