Huge Whey is a gluten-free whey protein powder from Huge Supplements. This brand was founded with the goal of offering high-quality, well-formulated bodybuilding supplements including protein powders, creatine, pre-workout, branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), and fat burners, among others.

Huge Whey Protein packs a punch with 23.5 to 25 grams of protein per serving depending on the flavor. Other macros also vary based on flavor.

Its protein content is probably the biggest selling point, considering the rest of the ingredients aren’t the “cleanest” compared to some other brands. All flavors contain artificial flavors and sweeteners and some contain added sugars.

Both had a positive experience overall and were especially impressed with how well Huge Whey mixed with water or milk. 

Price Per Serving

At $49.95 per 30-serving container, Huge Whey will set you back about $1.66 per serving. This isn’t the cheapest whey protein concentrate on the market, but it’s quite affordable compared to some other protein powders out there. 

Overall, Huge Whey is a budget-friendly option for optimizing your protein intake and earned a 4 out of 5 from our testers.

Formulation

Huge Whey contains 25 grams of protein per serving, which is pretty standard for a whey protein concentrate. This fits perfectly with the International Society of Sports Nutrition1 recommendation to get 20 to 40 grams of protein every few hours for muscle growth. This amount has also been shown to help with weight loss and maintenance2.

It also contains lactase, the enzyme needed to digest lactose. You’d think it would be well-tolerated by people with lactose intolerance, but Huge Whey suggests that people with lactose intolerance consider their Huge Isolate protein instead. This may simply be a precaution on their part, but it makes the addition of lactase confusing.

The addition of papain3, an enzyme that assists in protein digestion, probably isn’t that helpful unless you struggle with indigestion or digestive dysfunction.

Notably, this may not be a good product for pregnant women. Preliminary rodent research4 suggests papain may cause uterine contractions, and it isn’t clear exactly how much papain is in Huge Whey. 

Huge Whey also contains artificial sweeteners, which many people prefer to avoid. For these reasons, we rated its formulation a 4 out of 5.

Taste and Solubility 

Kate and Lauren both tried the chocolate peanut butter flavor. Kate noted: “I think the taste is pretty good. It kind of reminds me of chocolate peanut butter frozen yogurt; you can tell the flavors are there, but it’s not quite the real thing. But it’s close… you do have a small bit of that artificial sweetener taste.”

Lauren was slightly less impressed by the flavor, saying: “The taste was actually kind of strange to me… I was overwhelmed with peanut flavor, but more distinctly the kind of dried/dehydrated peanut taste you get from PB2. I realize that might actually sound good to some people, but I was not into it.”

Overall, Huge Whey got a 4 out of 5 for taste. 

Both testers were impressed with its mixability, saying it was incredibly smooth even when mixing a double serving of protein. We gave it a 5 out of 5 for solubility.

Side Effects

Whey protein powder is usually tolerated well by most people, and Huge Whey was no different. Neither Kate nor Lauren experienced any unpleasant whey protein side effects or gastrointestinal distress when taking this post-workout, so they both rated it a 5 out of 5 for side effects.

That said, people with lactose intolerance may not have the same experience.  

Third-Party Testing 

We appreciated that Huge Whey is certified GMP, meaning they follow Good Manufacturing Practices, but couldn’t find any mention of whether the product is third-party tested for purity. 

Since this information wasn’t provided, we have to assume that no third-party testing is involved.

This is unfortunate since dietary supplements aren’t regulated by the FDA in the USA. Because of this limitation, we rated Huge Whey a 2 out of 5 here.

Our testers didn’t have any issues that required them to contact customer service, but they can be easily reached through their website by submitting an online ticket or by emailing support@hugesupplements.com.

To initiate a return, you must contact customer service before you ship the product. You also can’t return opened supplements and will only have 14 days since you purchased the item to return it. They do allow replacements for damaged products.

You’ll have to be proactive about submitting your return request promptly if you want store credit or a refund to your original form of payment, but Huge Supplements makes it easy to contact them. Overall, we gave them a 4.5 out of 5 stars for customer experience.

Huge Whey has a 4.2-star rating on Amazon. Most customers here also praise the flavors and love that it doesn’t clump or feel grainy when mixed with liquid. Like our testers, some felt that the artificial sweeteners were noticeable but not unpleasant.
